Early identification of communication and literacy difficulties is critical to support your child’s development. A detailed assessment is your child’s first step in their journey with a Speech-Language Pathologist.
Following the assessment, we will discuss your child's results with you and identify your child's strengths and areas for improvement. Recommendations for intervention will be provided and goals will be determined in collaboration with parents/caregivers because you are the expert regarding your child.
Formal assessment reports are available upon request. Reports are subject to regular hourly fees.
We strive to make treatment functional, evidence-based, and consistent with practice standards outlined by the College of Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists of Ontario (CASLPO). Therapy is embedded in games and activities to keep your child engaged and motivated.
We encourage you to participate in sessions in order to feel confident targeting your child’s goals at home. Your child’s Speech-Language Pathologist will work with you to find ways to practice that can be implemented into your daily routine. Continuing to practice at home will help your child improve their speech, language, and literacy skills, and achieve their goals. Through the intervention process, our ultimate goal is to help your child grow and SHINE BRIGHT!
Consultation with other members of your child’s health-care team is also available. This may include: other Speech-Language Pathologists (e.g. preschool program, school board), daycare staff, teachers, Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Doctors, and Dentists.
In-Person: Sessions are available in-clinic in Whitby. We also provide in-home services in Newcastle, Bowmanville, Courtice, and Oshawa.
Virtual Care: Assessment and intervention sessions are available online for all ages across Ontario.
